Utnapishtim, 2523. Technology and magic struggle to coexist, while Nap City’s residents – immigrants from a broken Earth, transfers from another dimension, and native Utnapishtimites – struggle merely to survive. ARES, one of several megacorporations, has just announced a new cyber-security technology that purports to fend off magical attacks as well as it does hackers. But there’s some question as to how it works, and plenty of people who want to get their hands on it without paying the corporate price tag…
HON3YPOT is a mature sci-fantasy visual novel where you seduce your way to a successful heist – or not. You play as Gideon Glacier, charismatic con artist-slash-influencer, on a mission to steal the ARES prototype. To succeed, you’ll choose your marks from a cast of diverse characters, each with their own unique motivations, information and means. As you navigate various dates and the heist itself, you’ll encounter different social challenges and unexpected twists – and aside from your wits, you’ll have limited tools to solve them. Will you be able to gather the necessary information and resources to succeed in the heist? The choice is yours in this sexy sci-fantasy visual novel.
As of 2023, HON3YPOT is a work-in-progress, with a “proof of concept” launch planned first, including only a limited character set. I post updates regularly (see below), but I don’t recap every time, so here’s the technical scoop:
HOW IT WORKS
Mechanically, the HON3YPOT storyline is broken into two parts: the Setup and the Heist.
During the Setup, you’ll work to gather information and resources in order to prepare for the Heist. Being the charming con artist that you are, the easiest way to get what you need is by using the art of seduction. You’ve got time for up to three dates before the event – so choose wisely!
During the Heist, you’ll use whatever information, tools or other resources you gathered during the Setup to gain access to the prototype, choose the right time to grab it, and then (with a pinch of luck) make your escape! Of course, there are others in attendance with their own plans for the evening…
HOW IT’S MADE
If you’d like to follow my progress on HON3YPOT, I write monthly recaps here on the blog (or, get them via newsletter), as well as mini-updates on ko-fi. Right now, my ko-fi is completely FREE, so it’s a great time to follow me there!
